The initiative to strengthen and organize media professionals in the Koshi Province was formally launched with the establishment of FNJ Koshi, functioning under the umbrella of the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ). Since its foundation, FNJ Koshi has played a pivotal role in uniting journalists from across the province, promoting their rights, and advocating for freedom of expression and the press.

FNJ Koshi emerged as a vital regional chapter following the historic transformation of the Nepal Journalists Association into the Federation of Nepali Journalists on 25 June 1995. Carrying forward the legacy of veteran leaders who championed press freedom, FNJ Koshi continues to uphold the spirit of professional journalism in the new federal structure of Nepal.

As part of a national network affiliated with international bodies like the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) and International Freedom of Expression Exchange (IFEX), FNJ Koshi is committed to safeguarding the professional and physical security of its members. It envisions a free and vibrant media landscape in Koshi Province, contributing to the development of an informed, democratic society where press freedom is fully respected.
