The Federation of Nepali Journalists has drawn its attention to the misbehavior of a journalist from the National News Agency, Purna Prasad Mishra, who was allegedly mistreated by a person claiming to be a representative of the Construction Entrepreneurs Association during news gathering.
On Tuesday, April 20, after taking a picture of a public road under construction in Kolmoteshwa, Kageshwori Manohara Municipality-4, Kathmandu, the branch has stated that Mishra, who is also a member of the Federation RSS Pratishthan branch, was threatened and pressured to remove the material he had taken.
The Federation has considered this behavior against journalists engaged in the performance of their professional duties as highly objectionable and a step against press freedom. The Federation demands that whoever is involved in such acts take immediate legal action and the concerned bodies create an environment where journalists can engage in media work without hindrance and without any fear.
