For journalists and media
Important information issued by the Federation of Nepal Journalists
Journalists are the frontline warriors against the corona infection, let's stay safe and communicate accurate information.
Things to keep in mind while communicating news about the second wave of Corona COVID-19-
- COVID-19 means CO = Corona, Vi = Virus, D = Disease and 19 means the virus that originated in 2019. Its naming was done in a way that does not embarrass anyone. The second wave of Corona is becoming more dangerous than the first. Therefore, let's not write, speak, or show this virus by linking it only to any country, region or community.
- Communicating the truth about the corona infection in easy-to-understand language creates an environment where their understanding improves and fear is reduced. Half-and-incomplete information only increases fear and discrimination against the infected. Therefore, let's take information only from official sources and subject experts. Let's also disseminate such information through social media. The correct information we provide can counteract the misinformation coming from many sides.
–Let's discuss the second wave of the coronavirus, get information and give it. Let's write about people who have contracted the coronavirus or who have a high probability of contracting it. However, let's not use words like suspected corona infected on the basis of suspicion of anyone contracting the coronavirus. Let's not disseminate news in a way that affects the personal privacy of the infected.
